Dry conditions are expected over most parts of Kenya in the next seven days with likelihood of experiencing rainfall only over few parts of Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Central and South Rift Valley, Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Coast, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department(KMD) weekly forecast.

Furthermore, daytime (maximum) temperatures are likely to be moderate while night time (minimum) temperatures are likely to be low over high-altitude areas.

Meanwhile, rainfall was recorded over most parts of the country during the last seven days. However, much of the South-eastern lowlands and North-eastern Kenya remained generally dry.

Moreover, there was increased rainfall amount over Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin during (6-12 June 2022) review period compared to (30 May-5 June 2022) and a decrease over the Coast.

According to the organization, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and South Rift Valley regions are likely to be sunny in the morning with light rains and afternoon showers and thunderstorms over few places during the first half of the forecast period.

Night showers are likely to occur over few places during the second half of the forecast period while maximum (day-time) temperatures are likely to range from 17 to 28 degrees Celsius and minimum (night-time) temperatures expected to be between 9 and 18 degrees Celsius.

Turkana and Samburu counties are expected to be generally sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 20 to 36 while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 11 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, cloudy mornings with occasional rains, giving way to sunny intervals are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi county. Occasional afternoon and night showers are expected over few places during the second half of the forecast period with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 5 and 16 degrees Celsius.

Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties would be generally sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 24 to 37 degrees Celsius while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 16 and 26 degrees Celsius.

In the South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties), cloudy mornings breaking into sunny intervals are expected with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 20 to 30 while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 11 and 20 degrees Celsius.

Occasional morning and early afternoon showers are expected over few places of the Coastal counties with maximum (day-time) temperatures likely to range from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius while minimum (night-time) temperatures are expected to be between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius.
