Most parts of Kenya are likely to be dry except for a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley and the Coast which are expected to receive rainfall.

This is according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD)’s weekly prediction for 15th to 22nd, August.

KMD says that sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy. However, occasional afternoon as well as night showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places in The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.

In Northwestern Kenya, days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy. Mornings are likely to be cloudy giving way to sunny intervals. Occasional afternoon and night showers are expected over few places in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County).

Moreover in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties, days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy.

Occasional cloudiness is expected in the mornings giving way to sunny intervals. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy in the Southeastern lowlands.

Additionally, at the Coast, occasional morning and early afternoon showers are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

Comparing the 31 July to 6 August 2023 and the 7 to 13 August 2023 periods, it is noted that daytime (maximum) temperatures increased throughout the country. Night-time (minimum) temperatures decreased over most stations with only a few like Lodwar, Suba and Malindi recording slight increases.
