Most parts of Kenya are likely to be dry with a few areas in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the Coast expected to receive rainfall.

This is according to the Kenya Meteorological Department(KMD)’s weekly prediction.

Also, several parts of the country including the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya will experience high average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley are likely to have sunny mornings though a few areas may receive rains. Afternoon as well as night showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places occasionally spreading to several places.

In addition, KMD says occasional cloudiness and light rains are expected in the morning. Afternoon and night showers are expected over a few places in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County).

In Turkana, Samburu Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties, days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy.

At the Coast, days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, occasional morning and early afternoon showers are expected over a few places.

Comparing the 14 to 20 August 2023 and the 21 to 27 August 2023 periods, it is noted that daytime (maximum) temperatures increased throughout the country with only Mandera and Laikipia recording slight decreases. Night-time (minimum) temperatures increased over some stations including Moyale, Kisii and Kisumu and decreased over Narok, Dagoretti and Nyahururu among others.
