Rainfall is likely to continue over several parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley as well as over a few areas in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Southeastern lowlands, the Coast and Northwestern Kenya while the rest of the country is expected to be generally dry according to the Kenya Meteorological Department(KMD).

Furthermore, cold and cloudy conditions, with occasional light rains, are expected over the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as over some parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley.

Moreover, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and South Rift Valley, morning rains are expected over few places with the afternoon as well as night showers and thunderstorms expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places while in the North-western Kenya days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, there is a possibility of morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers occurring over few places during the second half of the forecast period which is between 26th July – 1st August.

The organization says that the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County mornings are likely to be cloudy, with occasional light rains over few places, giving way to short sunny intervals plus occasional afternoon and night showers are expected over few places. Elsewhere in the North-eastern Kenya days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy.

Additionally, the South-eastern lowlands mornings are likely to be cloudy breaking into sunny intervals for the rest of the day. However, there is a possibility of afternoon showers occurring over few places during the second half of the forecast period and nights are expected to be partly cloudy. Occasional morning showers are expected over few places while nights are likely to be partly cloudy where else in the Coast Occasional morning showers are expected over few places with the nights likely to be partly cloudy.

Nations minimum and maximum average temperature

According to KMD, average daytime (maximum) temperatures are likely to be moderate ranging between 20-35 degrees Celsius over most parts of the country as well average night-time (minimum) temperatures which are likely to be low (less than 10o C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Comparing the previous review period (11-17 July 2022) to the current review period (18-24 July 2022), KMD noted that there was an increase in rainfall amounts over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands.

Also, day-time (maximum) temperatures increased over some stations including Lamu, Garissa and Thika and decreased over Kericho, Mombasa and Voi among others while night-time (minimum) temperatures increased over some stations including Lodwar, Kabarak and Kisii and decreased over Voi, Suba and Eldoret among others.
