Rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country with isolated storms likely to occur in some areas including the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.
This is according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) weekly forecast for 17th to 23rd October.
KMD says in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley, morning rains are expected over few places with afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely to occur over several places. Night showers are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places.
Also, morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places in the North-western Kenya.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County), morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places.
Moreover, morning rains and afternoon and night showers are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places in the North-eastern Kenya and South-eastern lowlands.
At the Coast, morning, early afternoon and night showers are expected over few places occasionally spreading to several places.
Comparing the 2nd to 8th October 2023 and the 9th to 15th October 2023 periods, it is noted that day-time (maximum) temperatures increased over much of the country with only a few stations, including Kakamega, Kisumu and Suba recording decreases. Night-time (minimum) temperatures increased over most stations though a few like Narok, Nyahururu and Msabaha recorded decreases.
