In the next seven days, rainfall is likely to continue over several parts of the country, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has reported that the regions will be in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the South Rift Valley.

Counties in these regions include Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, and Narok.

Moreover, these regions are likely to have sunny mornings though occasional rains may occur over a few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over a few places occasionally spreading to several places with night showers in a few places.

Other regions in the North and Central Rift Valley like Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West-Pokot Counties, will likely be generally sunny during the day and partly cloudy at night. However, afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur over a few places.

KMD also noted that in North-western Kenya including Turkana and Samburu Counties, days are likely to be sunny and nights partly cloudy. However, morning rains as well as afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur over a few places during the first half of the forecast.

In addition, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County are likely to have cloudy mornings, with occasional rains over a few places, giving way to sunny intervals. Afternoon and night showers are expected over a few places occasionally spreading to several places.

Morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers are expected over a few places in the north-eastern Kenya and the South-eastern lowlands.

At the Coast, morning, afternoon, and night showers are likely to occur over a few places occasionally spreading to several places.

Comparing the 3 to 9 April 2023 and the 10 to 16 April 2023 periods, it is noted that day-time (maximum) temperatures increased over some stations including Kisumu, Kisii, and Kakamega, and decreased over others like Voi, Kangema, and Laikipia.
