President of African Development  Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinmwumi Adesina  appoints  Ms Bajabulile ‘Swazi’ Tshabalala as Acting Senior Vice President  of the Bank beginning 23 March, 2020.

Ms Tshabala joined the Bank on 1 August, 2018, and is currently the Vice President for Finance and Chief Finance Officer  of the AfDB.

In her new acting capacity, Ms Tshabala will replace Mr Charles Boamah former Senior Vice President of the Bank who retires effectively from the Bank on 3 March, 2020. Mr Boamah steps down after  a 23 years of meritorious service to the institution.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Adesina said: “Ms Tshabala has demonstrated highly commendable senior leadership and  management qualities and brings strong perspective on result orientation and delivery.  So, it is  important as the Bank moves ahead  with the delivery of its programs and commitments.”

Dr Adesina  also expressed his pleasure in appointing Ms Tshabala to step up as the Acting Senior of the Vice president. The Bank senior leadership transitions would  ensure stability and continuity of the Bank’s operations and work.

The President is confident his Senior Vice President  will do very well and she will still hold simultaneous position as the Vice President for Finance and Chief Offiecr  throughout the transitional period.
