Rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Coast and North- western Kenya.
This is according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) weekly prediction.
KMD says isolated storms are likely to occur over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya. The South-eastern lowlands and Northeastern Kenya are likely to be generally dry.
Also, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley are likely to have morning rains over few places. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur over several places during the first half of the forecast period reducing to few places thereafter. Night showers are expected over few places.
In North-western Kenya, morning rains, afternoon and night showers as well as thunderstorms are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period.
Mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals. Afternoon and night showers are expected over few places in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County).
In Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties, sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
The South-eastern lowlands, occasional cloudiness is expected in the mornings giving way to sunny intervals. Nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
At the Coast, occasional morning, early afternoon and night showers are expected over few places
Comparing the 17 to 23 July 2023 and the 24 to 30 July 2023 periods, it is noted that day-time (maximum) temperatures decreased throughout the country. Night-time (minimum) temperatures increased over most parts of the country though a few stations in the Coast and North-eastern Kenya recorded slight decreases.
