Though most parts of Kenya are likely to be sunny and dry throughout the week, rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley, the Coast and the Highlands East of the Rift Valley according to the Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD).

Further, average daytime temperatures are likely to be moderate ranging between 20-30 degrees Celsius over most parts of the country while average night-time (minimum) temperatures are likely to drop to below 10 degrees Celsius over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley.

Additionally, KMD notes that occasional cold and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Central and South Rift Valley.

According to the organization, the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Central and South Riftvalley are likely to experience morning rains in few places with afternoon showers and thunderstorms likely to occur over other areas and occasionally spreading to several places. Also, night showers are expected over few places.

Furthermore, in North-western Kenya days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy. There is however a possibility of morning rains and night showers occurring over few places during the second half of the forecast period(23-29 August), KMD says.

Additionally, the Highlands East of the Rift Valley including Nairobi County are likely to experience  intermittent cloudiness in the morning and afternoon with light afternoon and night showers likely to occur over few places.

KMD also notes that in North-eastern Kenya days are expected to be generally sunny and nights partly cloudy whereas in the South-eastern lowlands days are expected to be generally sunny. However, light afternoon showers may occur over few places and nights are expected to be partly cloudy.

Also in the Coast, morning, early afternoon and night showers are expected over few places during the first half of the forecast period.

According to KMD Rainfall was recorded in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Central Rift Valley and North-western Kenya while the rest of the country was generally dry.

Also, it is noted that there was a decrease in rainfall amounts over much of the country with the exception of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.

Comparing the previous review (8-14 August 2022) to the current review period (15-21 August 2022), it is noted that day-time (maximum) temperatures increased over most parts of the country other than the Highlands West of the Rift Valley while night-time (minimum) temperatures decreased over much of the country with only a few stations like Mtwapa and Makindu recording increases.
