Wetter than normal conditions are expected in most parts of Tanzania, eastern Uganda, several parts of Kenya, south-eastern Ethiopia, and few places in Somalia throughout March, according to the latest forecast by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)’s Climate Prediction and Application Centre (ICPAC).
However, over central parts of Ethiopia, western and southern Uganda, Burundi, and north-western Tanzania, the weather condition is expected to be drier than normal.
During the seasonal forecast for March to May 2025, ICPAC predicts that western and south-western Kenya, eastern Uganda, eastern South Sudan, western Ethiopia, and most parts of Tanzania will receive above normal rainfall.
Most parts of Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, western Uganda and South Sudan, and north-western Tanzania are anticipated to experience drier than normal rainfall during the same period.
The corresponding seasonal temperature according ICPAC, is expected to be warmer than normal across most parts of the greater horn of Africa.
South-eastern South Sudan and north-eastern Uganda are expected to experience normal temperature during the March to May season.
