In a concerted effort to catalyze new sources of capital and broaden the pool of global investors in Africa’s energy sector, an exclusive Global Forum will take place in Paris, France, in 2025 under the theme “Pioneering Africa’s Energy Boom: Strategic Investment for Maximum Returns.”
The Investment in Africa Energy (IAE) Forum, scheduled for May 13-14, 2025, is a premier platform to facilitate investment opportunities between Africa’s energy markets and global investors. Energy Capital and Power organize IAE.
“Returning for its third edition, IAE 2025 is solidifying its position as the premier African energy project showcase outside the continent. Next year’s edition distinguishes itself by connecting global investors with Africa’s most dynamic opportunities and ensuring that projects are bankable and ensure maximum returns for all stakeholders; that is our goal,” says Sandra Jeque, Event and Project Director of the IAE forum.
According to the International Energy Agency, Africa requires $200 billion annually in energy investment by 2030 to deliver universal and modern energy access.
Africa is home to a wide range of projects seeking capital and technology. According to IAE, recent offshore oil and gas discoveries in Namibia, Ivory Coast, and South Africa, along with ongoing exploration of frontier resources in Uganda, Senegal, Mauritania, Mozambique, and more, require sizable upstream investments to be developed.
Furthermore, major midstream infrastructure projects such as the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, the Mauritania-Mali Transmission Line, and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline require technical and financial partners to construct capital-intensive pipelines and connect energy resources to power-hungry markets.
This annual forum offers delegates two days of intensive engagement with industry experts, project developers, investors, and policymakers, providing a comprehensive overview of ongoing and upcoming projects with significant investment potential in Africa.
In line with the forum’s theme, discussions will center around how government support and policy incentives can maximize investors’ returns and create a more attractive operating environment in Africa’s energy sector.
The forum will also highlight African governments’ commitment to establishing favorable conditions, building investor confidence, and facilitating successful project deployment through supportive regulatory frameworks, ultimately fostering sustainable growth and development in the region.
Advanced seismic survey and upstream geoscience and data generation activities have been identified as priority areas for investment in Africa’s upstream markets. These technologies can de-risk exploration, identify potential drilling targets, yield discoveries, and reduce the environmental footprint of oil and gas exploration.
The Invest in African Energy Forum 2025 is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Africa’s energy landscape, driving strategic investments, and fostering partnerships that promise substantial returns for all stakeholders involved.
