Themed “The Use of Smart Technologies in Scaling up Agricultural Value Chains from Seed to Market,” the 2024 Agitech Expo will be held in Mwea, Kirinyaga county from 11th-12th October.
The event which brings together players in the entire agricultural value chain, from industry leaders, researchers, and farmers to innovators, aims at zeroing in on how emerging technologies can revolutionize farming practices, from production to distribution.
It seeks to provide participants with the opportunity to experience various innovations that can help in increasing efficiency, boosting yields, and enhancing the profitability of farmers while solving some of the chronic problems of the industry.
The Agitech Expo 2024 will include interactive sessions for learning, collaborating, and sharing knowledge. Exhibition stands and demonstration plots will also be featured.
Participants will be accorded an opportunity to interact with current technologies seeking to make farming efficient from seed to market. It will also showcase exhibits on precision agriculture, irrigation systems, pest control, and post-harvest handling equipment among others.
The expo will provide a forum where innovations, from seed varieties to the most advanced version of agrochemicals, are unveiled by researchers and product developers. Experts will explain how they should be used. This is very important in ensuring that farmers understand their full potential in improving their productivity.
With its highly intensive agricultural activities, Kirinyaga County is a perfect venue for the Agitech Expo. Mwea presents a perfect setting for an event whose sole purpose is sharing knowledge, technologies, and ideas capable of changing the face of farming due to the widespread rice and horticultural production.
Besides, the presence of key players such as Yara East Africa and Agitech Seedlings further underlines the fact that the region is critical in Kenya’s agricultural value chain, with a particular focus on scaled-up innovations for small- and large-scale farmers.
The success of both the 2022 and 2023 expos means Agitech Expo 2024 will have more impactful sessions, increased participation, and even more advanced technological solutions catering to Kenya’s agricultural sector.
